DONNER holds his knife and club in either hand preparing himself for the moment he attacks his prey.

His stance is akin to a baseball player at bat . . . standing sideways, left arm across  his body ready to swing his bat.

Wayne has used the Grotesque style of carving to create Donner.

Additionally, he has lovingly tattooed Donner's undereye area with symmetrical lines of yellow dots.

Facial tattoos are more common on Inuit women but male hunters may be tattooed to enhance luck in hunting.

Wayne Puqiqnak is the son of internationally renowned Master Carver Uriash Puqiqnak.

Father and son are one of the most famous Inuit carving DUO.

They are highly respected for their SIGNATURE Grotesque style of carving.

Grotesque is a term used in visual arts to describe a type of FANCIFUL decoration.

The decoration was inspired by the ornaments found in excavated rooms (grottoes) in certain ANCIENT ROMAN buildings (15th century).

Fans of the Grotesque style (which is almost exclusive to Gjoa Haven) delight in searching for these unique and intriguing figures.
