Provenance: September 2019 Sadly, Pavinak recently passed away. He was a pillar of the Inuit art community.
He was known for his gentle and jolly caribous.
This caribou came from another gallery that closed.. This is one of the last caribous by the late Pavinak Petaulassie.
Pavinak carved his male caribou with exaggerated beards.
He elongated their snouts and placed minimalistic antlers are their heads like a crown.
No elaborate branching antlers for Jack.
These signature features give Jack a sense of humour.
There is no mistaking a Petaulassie Caribou.
They are distinctive and unusual in their demeanour.
Pavinak had a large international presence.
He is missed.
