Master Carver Jaco Ishulutak.took a large piece of Baleen (whale) bone and created this MAGNIFICENT SUN BATHER.
The stunning beauty of this walrus becomes obvious as you explore all the complex details of this piece
Sun Bather is a walrus created by a piece of a whale's bone.
The life of that whale will live on in this stunning sculpture.
Resting on an ice floe of limestone, Sun Bather stretches and leans his head backward so he can catch the rays on his face.
His strength flows through his muscular body and out through his formidable tusks.
These tusks are his weapon.
With them, he inflicts death.
Jaco is one of Canada's five Elite Master Carvers.
I have seen many memorable walrus carvings over the years but Jaco's signature style is incomparable.
